Extracurricular activities that support this mission statement include Science Club, Chess Club, Spanish Club, Newspaper, Irish step dancing classes, an after school art program, Academic Decathlon team and the Angel on My Shoulder Community Service Club, which sponsors fund-raisers for local charity organizations and annually collects food, blankets and clothing for the homeless. Students participate in parish life on a voluntary basis by singing in the church choir and acting as altar servers. Sports at St. Cyril include volleyball, basketball, swimming, softball and flag football.
Parents are encouraged to play an active role in church and school activities by joining the Parent Volunteer Committee (PVC) as well by serving forty hours of volunteer work each school year, but arrangements can be made for the work to be completed at home. Family events such as an Italian dinner, school spring festival and parents’ talent show are held all year long to allow the school community to come together socially.
Many students are the children of former alumni and many teachers have been with the school for their entire careers. As we noted above, St. Cyril of Jerusalem has been educating the students of the San Fernando Valley for over 50 proud years. We’d be pleased to have you join this community of eager learners and educators.
