What is the PVC?

The Parent Volunteer Committee is responsible for all parent volunteer programs and fundraising events for our school.  The PVC is governed by an Excecutive Board elected annually in accordance with its constitution and bylaws.  The PVC meets on the first Thursday of each month in the School Hall. Please check the calendar for the meeting time.

Are Minimum Fundraising Amounts Required?

Because the tuition collected by St. Cyril is not usually sufficient to cover all off it's operating costs, each family is required to raise additional funds for the school.  Families with 1 child in school are required to generate a minimum fundraising amount of $500.  For 2 or more children, the fundraising amount is $750.  Unrestricted donations to the school count 100% toward the fundraising minimum.  Other fundraising amounts vary in their fundraising credit depending on the nature of the transaction.  For example, if the school offers a morning exercise class for parents, then only a portion of the fee paid will apply to the fundraising credit.

Are Minimum Volunteer Hours Required?

A minimum of 40 volunteer hours are required from each family per school year.  Parents, grandparents and adult family members can all be used to get volunteer credit.  There are many different way to earn service hours.  You can volunteer for a specific event or program by contacting the event chairperson or a PVC officer.  You can volunteer to perform work from home, you can volunteer in the school office, field trips , etc.  You can also contact your child's room parent for possible hours.  Parents who volunteer to help coach athletics can earn volunteer hours.  See the fundraising programs and events section for other ideas.  A Volunteer Request Form goes to every family at the end of the school year for the following year's events.

How Do I Get Credit For My Hours?

Volunteer hours are maintained in the school office.  If you have volunteered, you must report your hours to the event/program chairperson or room parent. They will then review and authorize your hours and submit them to the school office for recording.
