Father Eben MacDonald

As administrator of Saint Cyril of Jerusalem Parish, I have the great privilege of partnering with the principal, faculty, and staff in overseeing the operation of Saint Cyril of Jerusalem School. All of us are dedicated to partnering with you to aid in the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and social development of your children. We are fully committed to the pursuit of academic, artistic, and athletic excellence and we embrace innovation, utilizing the latest technological tools and constantly updating our curriculum in order to facilitate learning and enhance the classroom experience. We seek to set up our students for success by providing the personalized attention they need to develop their God-given talents and skills for their good and the good of others.

I would like to personally thank all of you for your dedication to Saint Cyril Parish and School. I am keenly aware of the great sacrifices you must make in order to keep your children enrolled at Saint Cyril and I want to express my sincere appreciation for your commitment to ensuring a quality Catholic education for your children. I know that you have many choices for your children’s education and we are very happy you have chosen to enroll your children in Saint Cyril School.

As the leader of the community of Saint Cyril I have three main priorities with regards to Saint Cyril School. They are:

1.     Maintaining a strong Catholic identity at Saint Cyril School. The specific purpose of a Catholic education is the formation of boys and girls who will be good citizens of this world, loving God and neighbour and enriching society with the leaven of the gospel, and who will also be citizens of the world to come, thus fulfilling their destiny to become saints. We want to support you in helping your children grow strong in body, mind, and spirit so that they become good young Christian ladies and gentleman who are faithful disciples of Jesus and who live lives of service. It is that focus that sets apart a Catholic education from other forms of private education.

2.      Building bridges between parish and school. A Catholic school is an important outreach of the parish. We are one community, the community of Saint Cyril, and what affects the parish affects the school and vice versa. I will work diligently to build bridges between parish and school in order to create one united community of mutual support, and I would like to enlist your help in making connections between parish and school as well.

3.     Establishing a strong pastoral presence in the school. In order to create a united community between parish and school there needs to be a strong clergy presence in the school. As the pastoral leader of Saint Cyril I pledge to be a strong presence in the school and in the lives of our students by visiting classrooms, interacting with our students on the playground, meeting with parents, celebrating liturgies with the student body, participating in school events, and more.

We are delighted that you and your children are part of the Saint Cyril Community and I will do all I can to be available to you and assist in any way I can. May God bless you and your family.

Yours in Christ,

Father Mac
