My name is Sabitha Chanduri, and I truly feel empowered to be at my best. The 2015-2016 school year marks my eleventh year as a teacher, all of those years having been spent at Pinecrest School. I obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Curriculum & Instructions from California State University, Bakersfield. I earned a B.S. degree in Microbiology and a Diploma in Computer Science from the National Institute of Information Technology. In addition, I obtained an Associate’s Degree in Child Development from Moorpark College, California. I hold a Child Development Supervisor Permit and a Teaching Permit, which is certified by the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing. My love for learning and my desire to make a positive impact on student learning inspired me to further pursue my education. I stay current and adept in technology education and curriculum trends by attending webinars and other professional development opportunities.
As an educator, I promote proactive and responsive teaching. I love when my students experience organic moments of authentic awareness and higher-level thinking. I am fortunate to have had the privilege to work with a variety of students and their families from various cultural, ethnic, cognitive, and socioeconomic backgrounds. My educational philosophy is to facilitate students to excel to their fullest potential by creating a safe learning environment and teaching rigorous standards-based curriculum to promote effective learning in my classroom. I believe that every child has his/her own unique strength, and preferred learning styles. To be an effective educator, I have high expectation on all my students and believe in challenging them by providing effective instructional strategies, hands-on learning, and the knowledge and skills to succeed in their life. Whether we take our STEM projects outside or participate in a science experiment in the classroom, my goal is to make learning fun, engaging, and interactive. I love to instill the passion for learning within my students while providing a variety of research-based instructional strategies and an educational environment that is encouraging and rewarding.
When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time with my two most favorite people in the whole wide world, my husband and my daughter. I also love taking spinning classes, reading, and traveling. I am so grateful for any opportunities I have to explore other people, places, and cultures. I have experienced so many memorable moments in my eleven years as a teacher. The most profound moments for me have always been those “Aha!” moments when something clicks for a particular student. I am truly passionate about teaching because I am able to help lay the foundation for future learning.
